The act of writing is a very personal one.  Every writer reveals an inner self, whether the writing is fictional or not.   That self may be purposefully displayed or it may simply shine through the words, unbeknownst to the one who holds the pen.

 

The reader participates in the process in a unique way.   One may know the heart of the writer, and one may see oneself as in a mirror.  The glass between the writer and reader is as thin a film as the one which separates fiction from reality – and as transparent or impenetrable as the reader allows.
